As you are aware,  the Integrated Stroke Program model for stroke care delivery was launched in April 2011, whereby acute stroke services were provided on the  24  bed acute stroke unit on  7 South at the General Site and stroke rehabilitation services  were provided at  the new Regional Rehabilitation Centre on the 28 bed stroke rehab unit on B2North.  The integrated stroke service delivery model implemented a rotational allied staffing model between 7 South and B2 North to enhance continuity of care for stroke patients and to improve timely stroke patient access to stroke rehabilitation.

In moving toward further integration within the stroke program, we wish to announce the implementation of an Integrated Stroke Clinical Manager position for the HHS Stroke Program. Please join us in welcoming Krista Trow to this position which will take effect February 2nd, 2015. Krista comes with a clinical background as an SLP and has held the Clinical Manager role on the B2N stroke rehabilitation unit since December 2013. Krista is looking forward to providing leadership to this new role.

We would like to thank Maryann Watts for her leadership as the Clinical Manager for the 7 South Acute Stroke Unit since 2007 and for her project management role in developing and launching the Integrated Stroke Program in 2011. Maryann will be leaving her current role as of October 8th  to pursue other opportunities. We wish Maryann the best in her future endeavors.

Until such time that Krista Trow assumes the role of Integrated Stroke Clinical Manager on February 2nd 2015, Louise MacRae will be assuming the day to day operations as Clinical Manager for 7S. In addition, Louise will be leading several Quality projects on 7 South. We thank Louise for taking on these roles over the coming months.

Additionally, The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) located on 7 South will be managed by Rebecca Fleck, Clinical Manager for the Neuroscience Ambulatory Centre which houses a very active ambulatory epilepsy intake and rapid assessment clinic for epilepsy. As well, I want to recognize Maryann for her leadership in launching the EMU on 7 South.

A farewell gathering for Maryann will be announced in the weeks to come. Stay tuned.
