Ministry Guidelines for LTC – This session will provide an overview of the long-term care ministry guidelines related to functional and resident assessment measures and will offer suggestions to ensure that your facility meets the ministry standards for restorative care and nursing rehabilitation.
Pole-Walking from Fit-to-Frail – Learn about the benefits of pole-walking for all levels of functional mobility, including the different types of poles and appropriate uses and training techniques. Enjoy a poling demonstration and maybe even try them yourself!
New CCAA 3-tiered Exercise Program – Learn about a new template of exercise programs for functional mobility. The CCAA is working to develop a new exercise model that could be implemented into LTC settings, retirement care, and adult day programs, and includes progressive exercise recommendations for all levels.

Balls for Strength, Balance and Flexibility (BALL) – This workshop introduces fitness leaders to inexpensive training equipment that can be used to enhance the strength, balance, and flexibility components of existing seniors’ fitness programs. Home Support Exercise Program (HSEP) – This workshop teaches an evidence-based in-home exercise program designed to enhance and maintain functional fitness, mobility, and balance, for frail older adults. Functional Activity Measures (FAM) – Participants in this workshop gain skills and knowledge in conducting functional fitness assessments of older adults using a combination of lecture and active teaching strategies.
